Its intriguing to notice the change in structure of the fair, once upon a time you couldn´t even get a name card if you didn't have 2,000 - 3,000 units per style / color in your productions; today, stocks, low MOQs, and tag-on orders are all ways in which the supplier market is keeping afloat while it waits to land that main key category. As drop-shipping becomes more attractive, and buying cycles shorten, there is no shortage of interest in adopting whatever formula is working in order to keep the machines running.
With what seems to be an endless array of products, the specialty behind each category is outstanding, and it really does take expert eyes to spot the changes from last season. This year, its all about "sustainable". Every relevant supplier looking to catch their foreign new customer is banking on it. From plastics (starting with PET all the way through PP), recycled acrylic fibers, re-purposed cotton yarns, sustainable cashmere, organics, and every imaginable combination of fabric blends claiming to be the next big thing which is already standard and very desirable in some other market (not yours of course).
The main players are present once again, and it seems that this time around, there is higher consumer confidence as the lines are longer, the stands are more vibrant, and there just seems to be more hope in the hallways.

For day 1, the initial perception is positive. I will have to revert back and observe how and what people are intereted in, buying into and betting for the new season. In the meantime, with perfect 25 degree weather, Guangzhou gets ready to close out another giant month of commercial promotion sending everyone home with a smile.
Come back for more. There is always a conversation to be had here!
